In just one hour the earth receives more energy from the sun than the world uses in an entire year.

For nearly 20 years, we've been at the forefront of bringing sustainable energy and reliable electrical solutions to homes, businesses and communities throughout Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

Get your energy direct from the source.

Sunshine is available everywhere. And Vancouver Island has some of the sunniest communities in B.C. So generating electricity directly for your home from solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on your roof makes a lot of sense. Once installed, they cost nothing to generate. No moving parts. No fuel. No emissions. No noise. And best of all, no power bill. In many cases, no bill at all.

How much you can save?

Why Solar Power?

A smart decision that pays off.

You’ve made a significant investment in your home – make the most of it by turning your roof into a profit centre. Installation can be completed in just a few days. We’ll help you access rebates  that can reduce your up-front costs.

A great investment that keeps adding value.

The cost of energy from traditional sources is expected to increase. Like any other improvement project, adding solar panels and generating your own electricity will increase the value of your home.

Save it or sell it.

Energy produced is used in your home first and any excess is sold back to the grid, earning you credits against future use. You’ll get 100% renewable power with no carbon emissions. Adding energy storage offers possibilities for backup power and load management.

Generate your own energy. Every day.

Photovoltaic (PV) panels on your roof capture solar energy as Direct Current (DC) which is fed into an inverter and converted into Alternating Current (AC) to power your home. Batteries store energy for use when the sun isn’t shining. An app allows you to monitor real-time energy use from your phone or computer. You can add a generator as a backup energy source.

Our assessment and installation process will ensure it is easy to use, safe, reliable and thoughtfully placed. It’s the convenient way to charge your electric vehicle and the most affordable if paired with a solar PV system.

You don’t need solar to charge an electric vehicle at home. We provide stand-alone EV charging solutions, so you’ll never worry about finding – or paying for - a public charging station. Simply plug in overnight and have a fully charged vehicle ready for your daily commute.

EV Chargers – no solar required.

Energy storage and batteries – power in reserve.

For even greater energy independence and savings, consider adding an optional battery backup system. A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) allows you to store excess solar energy for use during power outages or to minimize your electricity costs by drawing from your stored power during peak "time-of-day" billing periods.

Increasingly we’re getting a lot of extreme weather on the Island: heavy rains and high winds that can lead to power disruptions. Our backup battery solutions are suitable for indoor or outdoor use and will ensure uninterrupted power in the event of a grid outage. We’ll guide you through the various available rebates to help maximize your savings on your battery installation.

Single or multi-family – you’re always in charge.

For homeowners, we’ll handle everything from assessing your electrical panel to securing the necessary permits, ensuring a seamless and worry-free process. For contractors, we can design your EV infrastructure to accommodate future growth. Chargers in multi-unit residences will future-proof your parking facilities.

We install a wide range of Level 2 chargers, including popular brands like Flo, and provide tailored solutions to maximize your charging speed. With our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and local expertise, we make the transition to electric driving easy and efficient.

”Very Knowledgeable and reliable. Had no Idea what I Needed and Green Cost Electric did an assessment on my home and my usage walked me through the process and gave me alternate solutions. They did all the permits, helped me apply for any grants at the time, and even showed me how to put an app on my cell phone to see the amount of power collected and usage. They even used a drone to show me their work and how it looked once finished. Top rate professionals from start to finish.”

"Andrew and Greencoast Power came highly recommended by several people we know in the area. Our home solar and battery back up install went very smoothly. Andrew and his crew kept us informed at every step. They explained the system in detail and answered all our questions. Andrew personally looked after the paper work for the BC Hydro rebates and he still responds to our follow up questions promptly."
